With the new year comes an increase in the fines and penalties for traffic citations from the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

We wanted to make sure our fellow CA motorists (no matter whether by car, motorcycle, or scooter) are aware of the financial costs of breaking traffic laws. It’s important to remember that the cost may extend far beyond the financial realm, should your actions result in physical injury or damage to yourself or others. Always practice safe riding and follow the traffic laws.

Starting at 8 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, August 28, the Bay Bridge will be closed for construction until 5 a.m. Tuesday, September 3. However, CHP Officer Daniel Hill told KCBS/BCN that drivers may see road closures going into effect between 7:15 and 7:45 p.m., and should plan to cross the bridge before 7:00 p.m. tonight.
